


Kasuga Taisha Shrine (春日大社) Kasuga Grand Shrine was foundedn in the 8th century (768) by the order of the emperor during Nara period. It is located at the foot of Mt. Mikasa and dedicated to 4 Shinto kami (deities). It is one of the World Heritage site of UNESCO. The Shrine's extensive forests and mountains are considered sacred and no one can go into the mountain and cut down the trees nor hunt there. Thus Mt. Kasuga was also designated as one of the World Heritage site; "Kasuga yama Primeval Forest" .
In May, wisteria flowers (Fuji) beautifully blooms many part of the compound.
