This year 2024 is just around the corner.
The Chinese zodiac will be in the year of the dragon (龍), the only imaginary creature among the twelve signs of the Chinese zodiac.
In Japan, a major earthquake of magnitude 7.6 occurred on the Noto Peninsula on New Year's Day!
Regarding this, I mentioned that the Noto Peninsula is located on the left-hand side of the dragon, while the Japanese archipelago is considered as a dragon body.
I also said to be careful of the Boso Peninsula in Chiba Prefecture, which is on the opposite right side of the dragon, and in fact there were frequent earthquakes in Chiba as well.
The fact that earthquakes occur frequently in such a symbolic place seems to have some meaning.
When you see a picture of a dragon, it is often depicted with a jade in its short hand.
This ball is called “Nyoi Hojyu (如意宝珠)”, or Dragon Pearl, that has the power to grant any wish.
As you know, in Akira Toriyama's manga "Dragon Ball", there are seven balls scattered around the world called Dragon Balls.
The story goes that if you collect all seven balls, the legendary Shen Long (Shen Long) will appear and grant you whatever you wish for.
Thus, it can be said that the beads held by the dragons are the things that make people's wishes come true and are a beacon of hope.
If there is one thing that mankind longs for the most, it is the existence of a savior.
For many years, people have been waiting for the appearance of the light of salvation that will save the world.
The Noto Peninsula earthquake was a very tragic event, but it also seems to be a symbol that Japan will be reborn and the light of salvation will appear.
This year is the year of the dragon, and the death of the creator of Dragon Ball was also a symbolic event.
I personally like dragons quite a bit, partly because I was born in the year of the dragon, and often see dragons in the clouds in the sky.
As for images, I love the works of ceramic painter Kusaba Kazuhisa.
At a new exhibition I attended in the fall, I saw his latest work, “Dream of the Galaxy,” in which a dragon gains wings and flies through the galaxy.
A new and completely free world!
The rainbow dragon flying over Mt. Fuji was the newest piece in the previous exhibition, but this one was indeed symbol of the coming of the space age and wonderful.
The awakening comes from every one of us.
